What I Read in 2025

books
A year of balancing academic reading with non-fiction and a few memorable novels.

In 2025 I tried to combine research-related material with more general non-fiction and some fiction (mostly to disconnect a bit). Adaptive Survey Design was particularly relevant for my doctoral work, while my non-fiction reading ended up focusing quite a bit on social inequality and the societal effects of new technologies. I especially enjoyed books by Patrick Radden Keefe (again, after Say Nothing) and Jonathan Haidt (who has changed my point of view on social media). I also came across books by Ingrid Robeyns and George Monbiot & Peter Hutchison in a very nice bookstore in Bristol.

I also read several novels. Cien años de soledad by Gabriel García Márquez and Philip Roth’s The Plot Against America were probably the highlights.
